A general meeting of the traditional Sreepur Nabarun Club of Gazipur was held at the club auditorium from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.

After a long hiatus, the sudden presence of most of the members brought life back to the club.

Under the chairmanship of the new executive council president of the club Farid Ahmed Sarkar and general secretary Zakirul Hasan Zikur the members of the club celebrated their memories. Speakers expressed their plans and hopes for the club in the future.

All the members expressed their commitment to keep themselves dynamic under the leadership of the new committee to carry out socio-cultural activities in future days following the tradition of the club.

Humayun Kabir Sarkar, chief advisor of the club, released the details including the names of 39 deceased members of the club. Prayers were conducted in memory of the dead and sick members. Humayun Kabir Sarkar named all the members of the club and paid tribute by remembering the family role of those members in the great liberation war, state and social affairs.

He said, apart from sports, the cultural arena of Sreepur used to be full of constructive discussions, chats, seminars and symposiums. Unable to maintain consistency, the club is about to collapse. Eventually, the club flourished under the leadership of Farid-Ziku senior and active members.

Incidentally, the club was established in 1978 to promote sports and cultural activities. Since then, a significant number of public welfare oriented cultural, religious and social activities have been serving in Sreepur with the registration of the Ministry of Social Welfare.

In this, especially the cultural arena of Sreepur gained nationwide recognition. People from all communities of Sreepur who contributed in various fields including politics increased their involvement with the club. As a result, the club has a wide range of places.
