Speed control programme to prevent death of wildlife in Habiganj

Vehicle speed control schedule has been followed to prevent the death of wild animals in Satchari National Park of Chunarughat Upazila of Habiganj.
On Thursday (March 16) from 10 am to 1 pm, Satchari Co-Management Committee and Forest Department conducted this program at the two entrances of the National Park.
Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Divisional Officer of Wildlife and Nature Conservation Department, was the chief guest in the program under the chairmanship of Co-Management Committee Acting President Abul Kalam Azad.
Assistant Conservator of Forests Shyamal Kumar Mitra, Satchari Range Officer Abdullah Al Amin, former President of Chunarughat Press Club Kamrul Islam, Press Club General Secretary Jahangir Alam, Joint Management Committee Treasurer Satyendra Deb, Satchari Beat Officer Md Abdullah Al Mamun, Wildlife Officer Sarwar Hossain spoke during the program.
Mehdi, Forester Tofail Ahmed Chowdhury, Oil Machhra Bit Officer Habibullah Habib Chapal, Journalist Mamun Chowdhury, Noor Uddin Sumon, Abdur Razzaq Raju, Abdul Zahir, People's Forum President Abul Hossain, General Secretary Mobasvir Ali, Rabeya Khatun and others.
Many people including environmentalists, People's Forum, CPG members were present in it. The speakers called upon all vehicles to drive at a speed of less than 20 km on the 3 km road inside the park to save the wildlife from the death of the national park and distributed various leaflets to make the drivers and helpers of the vehicles plying on this road aware.
Besides, he demanded from the Roads and Highways Department to block some speed bumps on the road inside the National Park.
It should be noted that many local and national newspapers, including Dainik Amar Habiganj, reported that wild animals are often dying due to reckless traffic on the old Dhaka-Sylhet highway passing through the Satchari National Park. Esma said that two Maya deer, a Hanuman, several monkeys, porcupines and snakes have been killed by vehicles on the national park roads in the past two years.
