A memorial service and prayer service were held on the 21st death anniversary of the late Md. Kamal Hossain, former general secretary of Khagrachari Manikchhari Press Club and former general secretary of Upazila Chhatra Dal.
On Friday (August 22), after Asr, the grave visit of the deceased and after Maghrib, a memorial service and prayer service were held at the Press Club auditorium. Press Club President Md. Habibur Rahman Habib presided over the memorial service and office secretary Md. Rabiul Hossain moderated the service and prayer service, and the press club vice-presidents Abre Marma, Md. Shahidul Islam, former general secretary Abdul Mannan, general secretary Md. Alamgir Hossain, UP chairman Md. Mosharraf Hossain, former Chhatra Dal president Md. Solaiman, former college Chhatra Dal leader Md. Imam Hossain, BNP leader Munsur Ali, General Secretary of Dhaka's 'Jatiyatabadi Forum' MS Parvez, etc.
At this time, the speakers said, 'Journalist Kamal Hossain was a gentle and simple-minded person in his personal life and a fearless journalist in his professional life. Through his visionary talent and writing, he highlighted the problems, prospects and development of this region as well as exposed the face of criminals. His murder has caused irreparable damage to journalism in Manikchhari.'
It is mentioned that on the night of August 22, 2004, miscreants slit the throat of Kamal Hossain, the upazila correspondent of the national daily 'Ajaker Kagoj' and the local daily 'Pratidin Khagrachari' and the general secretary of the Upazila Chhatra Dal, at his house in Tintohari Madhyampara of the upazila.
Meanwhile, at 8 pm, at the initiative of the Upazila Chhatra Dal, the former general secretary of the Upazila Chhatra Dal, the late Md. A discussion meeting and prayer ceremony were held in memory of Kamal Hossain.
