Speaker, Chief Whip release fish fries into Parliament Lake

Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, MP, and Chief Whip Alhaj Nurul Islam Moni, MP, released 250 kilograms of fish fries into the National Parliament Lake.
The fish fry release ceremony took place at the Parliament Lake in the capital on Monday.
Speaking at the event, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram emphasized the importance of boosting domestic fish production to satisfy the nutritional and protein requirements of the country's population. He noted that utilizing the Parliament Lake for fish culture serves as an encouraging model for citizens across the nation to engage in fisheries development.
Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni stated that the government is continuously implementing comprehensive initiatives to expand fish and meat production to ensure national food security and fulfill dietary protein demands.
During the program, a total of 250 kilograms of fingerlings—comprising Rui, Mrigal, Katla, and Kalibaus species—were released into the lake. Authorities confirmed that a phased initiative will see a total of 1,200 kilograms of fish fries released into the Parliament Lake.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock alongside executive officers from the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present during the occasion.
