Smuggler arrested with 8 gold bars in Jibannagar

Members of BGB-58 Battalion arrested a smuggler named Momin Mondal with 8 gold bars from Jibannagar border in Chuadanga.
Momin is the son of Tetul Mondal of Gayeshpur village in the upazila.
He was arrested from the back of the border union of the upazila around 8 pm on Sunday. This information was given in a press release signed by 58 BGB Assistant Director and Acting Quartermaster Munshi Imadur Rahman.
The release said that a patrol team led by Havildar Shishir of Gayeshpur BOP under 58 BGB arrested Momin Mondal with 8 pieces of gold bars and 1 small gold piece.
The seized gold was being smuggled to India. The total weight of the gold is 01 kg 166.20 grams. The estimated market value of which is 1 crore 63 lakh 36 thousand 108 taka.
The accused has been handed over to Jibannagar Police Station.
