Md Nazmul Morelganj (Bagerhat)
The mobile court has fined 5 businessmen 49 thousand taka for slaughtering animals in unsanitary conditions in Bagerhat's Morelganj. The fine was imposed in the operation led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohnazmul Islam on Thursday morningAccording to Animal Slaughter and Meat Quality Control Act 2011, meat trader Eshahak Howladar (55), Md. Helal (40) was fined Tk 4,000 for crimes such as lack of license for animal slaughterers in the municipal area of Morelganj, lack of proper waste management, animal slaughter in unsanitary environment etc. Tk 10,000 was fined to Uddin Bepari (60) was fined 5,000 taka, Mohd Khokon Hung (45) was fined 10,000 taka and Md. Harun Sheikh (50) was fined 10,000 taka.
According to the related sources, there are several meat patties and animal slaughterhouses in different areas of Morelganj municipality. These meat markets sit in extremely unhealthy and smelly environment. The animals are slaughtered next to the meat market. All the waste that is generated after the slaughter of the animals is piled up next to itThe municipal authorities remove this foul-smelling waste once in fifteen to one month.
But due to daily slaughtering of animals, a huge amount of waste accumulates in the form of piles near this meat market. As a result, common people are forced to buy meat next to garbage heaps. Many old people and children are at risk of health. Buyers said that the stench in the meat market is so bad that they choke after standing for two minutes. Because of this condition, no one goes to the meat market much unless forced to. Municipal authorities should pay more attention to where people have to come more in their daily lifeWe common people are very happy with today's campaign and operation of mobile court. Hopefully, such campaign of Upazila Prosecution will continue in the future as well.
Md. Nazmul Islam during the operation of the mobile court said that the people who slaughter and sell cows in Morelganj received complaints of slaughtering meat in unhealthy environment, not having proper waste management and based on the complaint, 5 meat slaughterers and sellers were fined a total of forty nine thousand taka at 6 am on Thursday.
.At the time, he also said that such operations will continue in public interest. Of course, all animal slaughterers must have a license, have proper waste management and sell meat in a healthy environment.
