Staff Correspondent

Six coordinators of the quota reform movement have been released from the custody of the Detective Branch (DB) of police. They left the DB office in a black car at around 1:30pm on Thursday.

Badrul Islam, the father of one of the coordinators Nahid Islam, confirmed the matter.

Earlier, the families of the six coordinators had visited the DB office.

The coordinators were initially detained last Friday evening from Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhanmondi. Those detained were Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud, and Abu Bakr. Among them, Nahid and Asif were receiving medical treatment, while Bakr was accompanying them.

Subsequently, Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah were taken by DB on Saturday evening. Nusrat Tabassum was picked up early Sunday from a relative’s house in Mirpur. They had been held at the DB office on Minto Road since then. DB officials claimed that the coordinators were kept in custody for their safety.
