A Singapore-flagged vessel, ‘MV MBS Taishi’ with a draft of 13.5 meters—has arrived at the outer anchorage of Payra Port, carrying 62,100 metric tons of coal. This arrival has once again highlighted Payra Port’s capacity to handle large-scale vessels and cargo transportation.
The vessel reached the outer anchorage of Payra Port around 8:00 PM on Tuesday and anchored at the designated location in the deep sea. Measuring 199 meters in length and 32 meters in width, the ship departed from Tarahan Port in Indonesia on October 24, bound for Bangladesh. The coal on board will serve as fuel for power generation at the Payra 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant. Stakeholders expect this shipment to play a crucial role in maintaining a steady fuel supply for the power plant.
Captain S. M. Sharifur Rahman, Harbor Master of Payra Port, stated that the 'mother vessel' arrived and anchored safely at the outer anchorage on Tuesday night. Coal unloading operations are scheduled to begin today, Wednesday. Initially, more than half of the cargo will be unloaded; subsequently, the vessel will be brought to the terminal to discharge the remaining coal.
