Uniforms have been distributed among four traffic workers appointed by the Mostafizur Rahman Foundation, established by MP Nazrul Islam Azad in the name of his father, to keep the Araihazar municipal market in Narayanganj free of traffic congestion on Monday.
UNO and Araihazar Municipal Administrator Md. Asadur Rahman adressed them in uniforms.
It has been learned that the traffic workers appointed by the Mostafizur Rahman Foundation, established in the name of MP Nazrul Islam Azad's late father, will be given salary and allowances.
UNO Asadur Rahman said, from today, no shops, vans, etc. will be allowed to set up on the sidewalks along the roads in the market. If they do, legal action will be taken against them.
At that time, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mostafizur Rahman Emon, Police Station OC Sabzel Hossain, Upazila BNP President Yusuf Ali Bhuiyan, General Secretary Jewel Ahmed, Municipal BNP President Ahmedullah and other leaders and workers of BNP from various levels were present.
Incidentally, the Araihazar Municipal Market was one of the places with traffic jams in Narayanganj. Due to the abundance of CNG, auto-rickshaws in this market and the occupation of the footpaths by hawkers, the movement of people and vehicles was constantly being hampered. Therefore, Nazrul Islam. Azad made a special announcement to make this market free from traffic jams immediately after being elected as MP. As a result, four traffic policemen have been appointed from Sunday to free from traffic jams. It is known that they will work in two shifts from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm every day.
