
Shipping Adviser Sakhawat Hossain visits Sultanganj River Port

Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Shipping, visited the Sultanganj River Port and Port of Protocol in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi on Friday.
During his visit around 11:00 AM on Friday, he held a public exchange with local stakeholders and emphasized the need for higher-level discussions to ensure infrastructural development of the port. “I will take this positively,” he said, assuring that he would raise the matter at the top levels.
He also highlighted that starting operations at the port would require approval from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and the development of necessary infrastructure, including roads and facilities. “Several government agencies are involved in the process, and if all parties respond positively, the port operations can begin soon,” he added.
Also speaking at the event were Commodore Arif Ahmed Mustafa, Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Masudur Rahman Rinku, President of the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Abdul Wahed, President of the Chapainawabganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Prior to the discussion, the advisor conducted an on-site inspection of the Sultanganj River Port and the Port of Protocol.
