"Every government employee is a servant of democracy. Information is the right of the people. Employees cannot hoard information as they are its custodians. The necessity of transparency and accountability everywhere. Every citizen demands access to information."

Professor Dr. Sadeka Halim, Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University and former Information Commissioner, commented on these points during the training session on the Right to Information Act organised by the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority. The chief guest emphasised these points on Tuesday.

During the training, Sadeka Halim mentioned that there was a time when information was kept confidential, but it was the right of the people. Through the Right to Information Act, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ensured that right for the people. This has fostered transparency and accountability among the employees.

At this time, the vice chancellor urged the employees that if any media or general public seeks information, the officials must provide it in accordance with the correct procedures. Information must be provided to the service recipients in the same manner they request it.

To raise awareness about food adulteration and public health, the officials were called upon to be vigilant. Everyone must be aware of food adulteration, and special attention must be given to the nutritional quality of food. Strict measures should be taken to prevent food adulteration.

Chairing the training programme, Zakaria, Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, stated, "Many are unaware of the right to information. We are always ready to ensure consumers' rights. We are all working to ensure the appropriate quality of food."

Over two hundred employees were present, both physically and online, at the training program. The conclusion of the event was announced through a question-and-answer session. At that time, all other employees of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority were also present.
