Sharsha declared landless, homeless free upazila
Sharsha Upazila of Jashore has been officially declared 100% Land and Homeless freeUpazila.
Another 76 landless and homeless families of Jashore's Sharsha upazila got houses along with the land of Asharyan-2 project on Wednesday.
And on the occasion of Mujib Barsho, a total of 264 landless and homeless families in Sharsha Upazila got their dream house with land.
Apart from this, 195 families have got houses in previous land-no-house project, 25 in Jalochbhas project, 46 families affected by Ampan storm have got houses.
The land deeds and house keys were officially handed over to these families after the inauguration by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through video conference from Ganabhaban on Wednesday.
Sharsha Upazila Nerbahe Officer Narayan Chandra Pal said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially declared Sharsha Upazila of Jashore as 100% land and homeless free upazila through a video conference from Ganobhaban.
Sheikh Afil Uddin, Member of Parliament of 85 Jashore-1 Sharsha Constituency, Upazila Awami League President, Upazila Chairman Sirajul Haque Manju, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Aleya Ferdous, Agriculture Officer Pratap Kumar Mondal, Awami Jubo League General Secretary Sohrab Hossain and others were present in the event organized at Upazila Auditorium.
Narayan Chandra Pal presided over the function.
Sharsha Upazila UNO Narayan Chandra Pal said that 264 landless and homeless families in Sharsha Upazila have received land and dream houses by handing over houses to 76 landless and homeless families on WednesdayAs a result, the bordering Sharsha Upazila was completely freed from land and homelessness.
In this special initiative of the Prime Minister, every landless and homeless family is getting a tin-shaded paved house with two centuries of land ownership.
The beneficiaries are now dreaming of standing on their own feet.
Sheikh Afil Uddin, Member of Parliament of 85 Jashore-1 Sharsha Constituency, said that only Bangladesh has shown courage in the world that no one will be landless or homeless in Mujib year. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has not only shown this courage but she has shown it by doing itFather of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to transform Bangladesh into a beautiful state by meeting the basic needs of people. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working along that path.
Upazila Chairman Sirajul Haque Manju said that the house has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a toilet, a balcony, electricity and a tube well for drinking water, along with the land ownership of the Prime Minister's gift. There are many homeless including disabled, beggars, widows, third gender community who have got these houses. It is a matter of pleasure. All facilities are ensured for living in the shelter home.
I never thought that poor people like us would have a headache. I will get such a mature house. Born parents could not give a place to live in a world of poverty. The prime minister has fulfilled the duty of the guardianI pray to Almighty Allah for him. 76 landless and homeless families of Jessore's Sharsha Upazila who received the Prime Minister's gift house said these things.
Shahanara Begum (43) of Pachambhulot village came to her husband's house after her marriage but her grief did not leave her behind. The poor husband's day-to-day living was like a shelter in another's house. He floated here and there like a small piece of water. Currently, the husband is happily at home with his children. Shahana said with tears in her eyes that the house named after her was a gift from the Prime Minister, "Sheikh Hasina has given it as a gift". Shahanara's prayer to get 'anchal' with both hands to the Prime Minister.
Zahurul Haque (45), a van driver of Rudrapur village, was struggling to get his hands on someone else's door. At this age, he used to live in another's house with his wife, son, son's wife and a daughter's child at the owner's pleasure. He has no idea how many such places he had to change. That Zahurul Haque's eyes now sparkle with happiness.
