Srinagar (Munshiganj) Correspondent
In a span of just a few days, skeleton of another seven graveyard was stolen in Srinagar Upazila, Munshiganj.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night at Singpara Graveyard in Tantor Union, where thieves dug up 21 graves and stole skeletons from seven of them.
The theft was discovered on Thursday morning when locals noticed the disturbed graves and informed the police. It is believed that skeletons are often stolen for use in medical college studies, black magic, or occult practices. Due to their high market value, a criminal network may be actively engaged in stealing skeletons from graveyards. Notably, in the past month, similar incidents have occurred twice at Baizgaon Graveyard, as well as at Satgaon and Singpara graveyards.
Ali Akbar, Chairman of Tantor Union Parishad, stated that upon receiving reports from the locals, he immediately informed the Srinagar police. Later, police confirmed that seven skeletons had been stolen from the disturbed graves.
Srinagar Police Station OC Md. Shakil Ahmed confirmed that the police visited the scene and assured that necessary legal actions would be taken regarding the theft of seven skeletons from Singpara Graveyard.
