State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, MP, has emphasized that service delivery to people affected by recent natural disasters must be handled through the mutual coordination of all government and private organizations, rather than through isolated decisions or individual efforts.
"Our Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has given a clear directive that service activities must be conducted in coordination with everyone, with the primary target being the general public of the country," he stated.
The State Minister made these remarks as the chief guest at a meeting held on Friday night at the Bandarban DC's office conference room, where top officials reviewed the post-flood situation and discussed future necessary actions.
The meeting, presided over by Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Md. Saniul Ferdous, was attended by Member of Parliament for Bandarban, Saching Prue, and Member of Parliament for Reserved Women's Seat, Advocate Madhabi Marma, along with other high-ranking district officials.
Directing concerned officials, the State Minister stated, "Do not conduct service activities with isolated, individual decisions, as this fails to maintain the quality of essential support. This is not the time to compete for credit or calculate which organization has done more work. The primary responsibility right now is to ensure the collective and coordinated effort of everyone, including government, private, and other organizations."
Emphasizing sustainable development in the hill tracts, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin noted that the three CHT District Councils, the CHT Development Board, and other agencies have numerous small projects. "Focusing on so many projects simultaneously is difficult and often fails to yield the desired results," he said. "Instead of such temporary or small-scale projects, we must adopt long-term and sustainable projects. We cannot allow any wastage of our national resources. Under no circumstances should there be a communication gap among officials."
Representatives from various government and private organizations presented a detailed picture of the damages caused by the recent severe natural disaster in Bandarban, discussed the current flood situation, and held deliberations on strengthening rehabilitation efforts.
