Seminar on future of fisheries, progress of sustainable initiatives held at RU

A seminar titled "Aquaculture Future: Advancing Sustainable Enterprises in Bangladesh" was held with the participation of academicians, researchers, extension workers, entrepreneurs and the private sector of the Faculty of Fisheries of Rajshahi University.
The seminar was held on Saturday from 12 noon at the gallery of the Engineering Faculty of RU's Fourth Science Building.
The seminar discussed the positive aspects of fish farming in Bangladesh and the Rajshahi region. They also discussed various obstacles and what needs to be done to remedy them.
Chief guest Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib stressed the importance of establishing a high-quality research laboratory in this region. In which the solutions to various problems of fish farmers will be found. By conducting various experiments in fish farming, fish farmers will be directly supported at the field level.
In the keynote speech, Prof Akhtar Hossain emphasized the importance of good aquaculture practices, provision of high-quality fish feed and hatchery, mechanization, climate change adaptation, and formulation of a separate aquaculture policy to enhance exports in the advancement of sustainable aquaculture initiatives in Bangladesh.
In his speech as the president, Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman Mandal thanked everyone and announced future entrepreneurship summits for fish farmers in the Rajshahi region.
Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries of Rajshahi University, Prof Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman Mondal presided over the workshop, which was attended by RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib as the chief guest; Pro-VC (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Main Uddin, Pro-VC (Education) Prof Dr. Md. Farid Uddin Khan and Deputy Director (Aquaculture) of Dhaka Matsya Bhaban, Dr. Md. Amimul Ehsan, were present as special guests. Sultan Mahmud, Senior Vice President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was present as the guest of honor. The keynote paper was presented by Prof Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Department of Fisheries, RU. The keynote paper was discussed by Prof Dr. Md. Yamin Hossain and District Fisheries Officer of Rajshahi, Jahangir Hossain.
The welcome speech was delivered by Prof Fauzia Adib Flora.
