Seminar on diploma in engineering career, technical education “Dokkhotar Diganta 2026” held in Sandwip

A seminar titled “Dokkhotar Diganta 2026” focusing on Diploma in Engineering careers and technical education was held, organized by the Sandwip Diploma in Engineering Students Forum.
The seminar took place on Sunday at 10:00 AM at the auditorium of Musapur Haji Abdul Baten High School, located in the heart of Sandwip, an island upazila of Chattogram district. The session was chaired by the Forum President Md. Jihad and moderated by Mahmud Alam Akib.
The keynote speaker of the seminar was Engineer S. M. Hamidul Haque, Head of the Computer Science and Technology Department at Chattogram Mohila Polytechnic Institute. Special speakers included Engineer Md. Momen, a prominent businessman and social entrepreneur; Engineer Maksudur Rahman Sumon, Assistant Teacher (Vocational) at Pub Sandwip Multipurpose High School; and Md. Alam, Sub-Assistant Engineer of LGED, Sandwip Upazila.
Among the distinguished guests were Kazi Anwar, President of the Sandwip Secondary School Teachers Association; A. K. Fazlul Karim, Assistant Head Teacher of Musapur Haji Abdul Baten High School and General Secretary of the Teachers Association; Zakaria Soukat, former Organizing Secretary of the Forum; and Mehrab Hossain, BOD member and former Convener, among others. Also present were Mushfiqul Mawla, Convener of the organizing committee; Mohiuddin Nishad, Member Secretary; Ismail Hossain Sajid, General Secretary of the Forum; along with forum members and students from various secondary schools in Sandwip.
The seminar highlighted the importance of technical education in developing a skilled workforce, human resource development, admission processes to polytechnic institutes, and various technical training opportunities. The speakers emphasized the need for establishing a government technical training center in Sandwip.
They also discussed opportunities for skill development through institutions such as Badr Shah Polytechnic in South Sandwip and Ahsan Jamil Technical Center in North Sandwip.
During the event, five students were awarded prizes through a quiz competition on technical education, and participation certificates were distributed among all attending students to encourage their interest in technical education.
It is worth mentioning that since its establishment in 2013, the Sandwip Diploma in Engineering Students Forum has been actively working to build a strong student network among polytechnic students and to promote technical education in Sandwip.
