Habibul Islam Habib, Publication Secretary of the BNP Central Committee and former MP, has taken over the responsibility of the Satkhira District Council Administrator. He took over this responsibility from Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Ms Afroza Akhtar on Saturday.

Earlier, a public reception was organized at the Zilla Parishad premises. Leaders and workers of the district BNP from all walks of life gathered on one stage to call for party unity, focusing on the reception and taking charge.

The program was presided over by Satkhira District BNP Convener HM Rahmatullah Palash and was attended by newly appointed District Council Administrator Habibul Islam Habib as the chief guest. The program, moderated by District BNP Member Secretary Abu Zahid Dablu, included speeches by former MP Kazi Alauddin, BNP leader Alhaj Md. Abdur Rouf, Kamrul Islam Faruk, Master Abdul Wahed, Abul Hasan Hadi, Tariqul Islam, former mayor of Satkhira Municipality Tajkin Ahmed Chishti, Dr. Moniruzzaman, and others.

The district council premises were filled to the brim with the presence of leaders and activists of Satkhira District BNP and its affiliated organizations since the morning for the reception ceremony. At the beginning of the ceremony, leaders from various levels of the district greeted the newly appointed administrator with flowers.

During this time, the speakers remembered the late leaders, activists and martyrs including BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia with deep respect and said, "The time has come for unity. We must forget all differences and factions and work together. We must strengthen the hand of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. We must be engaged in the welfare of the people."

During this time, they expressed their condolences to the leaders and activists who were injured, maimed, and imprisoned during the recent political movements. At the same time, the speakers expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for appointing Habibul Islam Habib to this position.

Expressing their determination to win the local government elections, the leaders said that BNP lost all four seats in Satkhira in the last national elections due to disunity. However, today, BNP is completely united, breaking that wall of disunity. This unity must be further organized to win any future elections.

After assuming office, Habibul Islam Habib said, "From now on, the doors of the District Council will always be open to the common people. The current government and the District Council are determined to work jointly for the overall development of Satkhira."

Stating that a new light of hope has been spread in the minds of the people of Satkhira, the new administrator sought everyone's cooperation to take the development progress of the district to a unique height. He also said, our efforts will be fruitful only if we can make Satkhira an ideal, disaster-tolerant and economically prosperous district of Bangladesh. After the ceremony, Satkhira Deputy Administrator Kausar Aziz handed over the responsibility to District Council Administrator Habibul Islam Habib, who was also present at the event, along with the Executive Officer of the Council Mahfuzur Rahman and the officers and employees of the District receptio
