Jagannath University (JnU) celebrated the Bengali New Year 1432 with various vibrant events, including a Boishakhi fair and a colorful rally—both organized for the first time on campus on  Monday morning. 

The Faculty of Fine Arts organized a festive rally that started at 9:30 AM from the university premises. The rally paraded through Victoria Park in Ray Shaheb Bazar and returned to campus, drawing attention from onlookers along the route.

This year’s celebration stood out with the inauguration of the university’s first-ever Boishakhi fair. With the slogan "Let light descend through the steps of revolution, may the New Year bring a freer life," the events were themed around rural Bengali heritage.

The rally featured traditional elements such as bullock carts, birds, animals, and floral motifs, all crafted by students in vibrant attire. The central theme highlighted Bangladesh’s rich rural culture and traditions.

Following the rally, a festive gathering was held at the Faculty of Science premises, where Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim delivered a welcome speech. A cultural program began shortly after and is scheduled to continue until the evening.

The day-long celebration includes musical performances, band shows, a concert, and a traditional folk drama titled "Velua Sundari." A special Boishakhi publication and cultural fair are also being held alongside the festivities.

Various stalls have been set up beneath the Faculty of Science building, the open stage (Muktomoncho), and the ground floor of the Rafique building. A dedicated stage has been constructed on the science faculty ground for the band performances.
