Habibur Rahman Habib, candidate for the position of Chairman of the Rupganj Upazila Parishad election on May 21 in the second phase, won with a huge vote. Habibur Rahman Habib (1 lakh 18 thousand 641) was elected privately. His nearest rival Abu Hussain Bhuiya Ranu (21 thousand 254 votes) of Pineapple symbol was defeated.

Rupganj Upazila Executive Officer and Government Returning Officer Ahsan Mahmud Russell announced the result. Polling was held peacefully on Tuesday from 8 am to 4 pm. No disorder or untoward incident occurred anywhere during the polling.

Apart from this, Alhaj Mizanur Rahman Mizan, director of Rangdhanu Group and former member of Zilla Parishad, was unofficially elected as vice chairman, and Ferdousi Akter Ria, president of Rupganj Upazila Awami Jubomahila League, as female vice chairman.

It is known that there is a festive atmosphere surrounding the Rupganj Upazila Parishad elections on 21 May. In this year's upazila council election, upazila Awami League functional member Alhaj¦ Habibur Rahman Habib Doat has contested for the post of chairman on the pen symbol and former chairman of Rupganj Union Abu Hossain Bhuya Ranu has elected on the pineapple symbol.

However, since Habib is engaged in development work with member of parliament Golam Dastgir Gazi (Bir Prateek) and for double development ahead, the local voters wanted Alhaj¦ Habibur Rahman Habib as the chairman of the Upazila Parishad. Voters have kept talking even on polling day. Habib's victory with huge votes is proof of that.

Meanwhile, Abu Hossain Bhuya Ranu, the candidate of the pineapple symbol, was worried about a landslide in the polls. For this reason, he did not run the campaign thinking about the polls. That apprehension turned into reality in the case of Abu Hossain Bhuiya Ranu. (97 thousand 387) Ranu's defeat in the margin of votes is proof of that.

Voters said that in the last 15 years under the leadership of Golam Dastgir Gazi (Bir Prateek), the former Minister of Jute and Textiles and Member of Parliament of Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj) Constituency, roads, flyovers, bridges, schools-colleges, mosques, madrasas, new buildings of temples have been constructed in Rupganj.

There have been various developmental activities including the establishment of new industrial factories, increasing employment, improving the quality of education. He had to work tirelessly day and night.

Alhaj Habibur Rahman Habib became a partner in this effort. He worked day and night with Golam Dastgir Gazi to carry forward this development work. For this, Habibur Rahman Habib has contributed to these developments. Therefore, I voted for Habibur Rahman Habib as chairman in the upazila parishad election.

Rupganj Upazila Election Officer Tajalli Islam said that the Rupganj Upazila Parishad elections were held in a fair and peaceful manner without any untoward incident.

A large number of law enforcement personnel were deployed around the election.
