Road accidents claim 555 lives in February

A total of 555 people lost their lives in 503 road accidents across the country in February this year. In addition, some 1,031 people were injured.
Bangladesh Passengers' Welfare Association's (BPWA) Accident Monitoring Cell revealed the information in an observation report on Wednesday.
The association, in a press release, said some 210 people were killed and 129 injured in 173 motorcycle accidents, which is 34.39 percent of the total number of accidents, 37.83 percent of total deaths, and 12.51 percent of total injuries.
The highest number of 115 accidents occurred in the Dhaka division, leaving 135 dead and 317 injured, while Sylhet witnessed the lowest 21 accidents which left 22 people dead and 50 injured, it said.
