Riders suffer second defeat in a row in Global Super League

Sports Desk

Rangpur Riders suffered their second consecutive defeat in the Global Super League (GSL) as they lost to Victoria by 10 runs at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Sunday.

Riders failed to chase down 152 despite a Soumya Sarkar half-century on the day. They managed to score 141/7, eventually falling 10 runs short of Victoria’s 151/6.

Soumya scored 51 smashing two maximums and four boundaries, ably supported by Steven Taylor (26) to give Riders a flying start in their chase.

They were going well in their chase, reaching 100 in just 11.4 overs, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to live up to the need.

Earlier, Victoria posted 151/6 thanks to a few useful innings from their batters. Blake Macdonald was the top scorer with 40 to his name while Joe Clarke (32), Sanjay Krishnamurhi (31) and Scott Edwards (30) chipped in with valuable knocks.

With two consecutive defeats, Riders now sit at the bottom of the five-team tournament table. They next face Guyana Amazon Warriors on 5 December.
