A 300-year-old banyan tree has been found at Bhuapur upazila in Tangail. There is no end to people's curiosity around the tree.

No one knows the exact history of when and how the mysterious banyan tree was planted. However, numerous fairy tales surround the tree. There are miracles!

A small pond is planted next to the tree. There is also a fairy tale about that Dighi. These include stories of boats of gold and dishes floating.

The people of the area have been hearing from their forefathers that there are many miracles happening around the tree. That is why the tree seems to them to be scary as well as mysterious.

The tree was unscathed even though natural calamities took place several times. However, now due to lack of maintenance, the beauty of the tree is losing a lot. However, to the new generation, the tree is now a history or souvenir.

This banyan tree is standing tall next to the house of late Mir Moazzem Hossain Dudu Mia, the former chairman of Bagbari village of ward number one of Gobindasi union in the west of Bhuyapur upazila. Many history-traditions of that house are connected with it.

Many people are afraid to walk in front of the banyan tree late at night. However, no one was harmed by the tree, locals said. They also demanded to keep the memorial of this 300-year-old banyan tree. He also said that if the tree is filled with soil around it, the tree will provide oxygen and habitat for animals for a longer period of time.

Mahmudul Hasan of Bagbari village said, the banyan tree has become a history. Earlier, when there was a function in someone's house, dishes would be floated in this dighi.

Suddenly one day someone left a dish to himself. Since then the dishes have never arrived. This story is many years ago. This tree has been making our house traditional. Demand to the upazila administration to arrange for the quick preservation of the tree.

Current UP Member Shajahan Ali Saju said, the tree is many years old. About 300 years ago. The tree needs to be preserved to be kept as a souvenir.
