Representatives of seven countries paid tributes at Commonwealth War Cemetery in Cumilla

Ambassadors, high commissioners and representatives of 7 countries paid tribute to the soldiers who died in the Second World War at Mainamati Commonwealth War Cemetery (War Cemetery) adjacent to Cumilla Cantonment.
Ambassadors, High Commissioners and representatives of the United Kingdom, United States, Japan, Canada, Australia, India and Pakistan paid floral tributes at the grave site on Saturday.

Haas, Japanese Ambassador Iwama Kiminori, Australian Deputy High Commissioner Nardia Simpson, Indian Defense Representative Brigadier MS Sabharwal, Pakistani Representative Syed Ahmed Maruf, British Council and a total of 68 guests from various countries.
At the end of the prayer session of the representatives of 7 countries at the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Cumilla , floral tributes were paid at the foot of the holy cross in Comilla Cantonment by Brigadier General Md. Rabbi Ahsan NDC, PSC, 33 Artillery Brigade Commander.
A guard of honor was provided before this. Incidentally, 738 soldiers who died in World War II from 1941 to 1945 are buried in Cumillas Mainamati War Cemetery. In 1962, when his relatives took the burial ground with the remains of 1 person to the United States, there are currently 737 people buried here. Among the 737 fighters from 13 countries, 172 are Muslims, 24 are Buddhists, 2 are Hindus and the rest are Christians. Among them there are graves of 567 sailors, 166 airmen and 3 soldiers. Among them 357 people from United Kingdom, 12 people from Canada, 12 people from Australia, 4 people from New Zealand, 1 person from South Africa, 171 people from undivided India, 3 people from Rhodesia, 56 people from East Africa, 86 people from West Africa, 1 person from Burma, 1 person from Belgium, John, 24 from Japan and 1 from Poland.
The Commonwealth Graveyard Commission is responsible for the creation and maintenance of war cemeteries. Every year, ambassadors, high commissioners, diplomats and representatives of Commonwealth countries remember them by laying flowers on their graves. In that sequence, they came there to pay their respects on Saturday as well.
