A court in Dhaka has not granted a prayer to place Transcom Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simeen Rahman and three others on remand and cancellation of their bails in two separate cases related to forgery of deeds and embezzlement of money.
After the hearing on Wednesday afternoon, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam's court passed the order.
Other accused of the cases were Transcom Group's Head of Transformation Zaref Ayat Hossain, company's legal adviser Fakhruzzaman Bhuiyan and Director of Corporate Finance Quamrul Hasan.
Hearing was held in presence of the four accused. The investigation officer submitted a prayer seeking cancellation of the bails of the accused of two separate cases filed with Gulshan and Banani police stations.
On the other hand, lawyers representing the accused prayed for their bail seeking rejection of the remand prayer. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court cancelled the bail of each of the four accused and did not approve remand prayer.
On February 22 last, being the plaintiff, Transcom Group's founder late Latifur Rahman's daughter Shajreh Huq filed three separate cases at Gulshan Police Station. In the cases, she brought charges of embezzling Tk 100 crore of Transcom Group, occupying of properties and transferring the company shares illegally.
