The reconstruction of the first two kilometers of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive, which was destroyed by the waves will begin soon.

Bangladesh Army will start construction of the protection dam soon. Tourists concerned say that if the road is constructed, the long suffering of alternative roads will be relieved and the full benefits of Marine Drive will be enjoyed once again.

Recently, the Area Commander of the Army, Major General Sheikh Md.Sarwar Hossain , visited the damaged part of Marine Drive.

On the the spot , it is seen that a large part of the Marine Drive from Kalatali in Cox's Bazar to Bela Hatchery has been lost due to the encroachment of the sea.

Traffic is at risk. To protect the privacy of the road, some have built dams with private funding, but the locals, including those related to tourism, have been waiting for the reconstruction of the damaged part of Marine Drive for a long time. Due to this, drivers and passengers have been subjected to regular traffic jams and accidents due to the use of alternative roads.

Drivers transporting tourists said, there is always a traffic jam due to the narrowness of the alternative road. This causes us and the tourists extreme suffering and annoyance. It takes one-and-a-half to two hours to travel 2 kilometers on alternative roads, and more on holidays.” Restarting Marine Drive will resolve this issue.

Titu, a tour operator of Cox's Bazar said, "If defense dams and roads are built, various structures will be saved and the tourism industry will be developed." If this reconstruction of Marine Drive is completed quickly, it will relieve the long suffering and will play a vital role in the prosperity of the tourism sector. Tourists will be attracted.

Area commander of the Army Major General Sheikh Md. Sarwar Hossain said that the reconstruction work of the Marine Drive road, which has been lost in the sea, will be started soon. This road will play a unique role for the tourism sector of the country.
