Rajapur boys, girls teams champions in district in primary school Gold Cup Football Tournament

Rajapur Upazila team has become the champion in both boys and girls categories in the Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament in Jhalakathi district.
The district-level competition was held at Jhalakathi Mini Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The chief guest at the event was Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin.
The special guests were Jhalakathi District Council Administrator Advocate Shahadat Hossain and Jhalakathi Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Saiful Islam. The event was presided over by District Primary Education Officer Shahinul Islam Majumder and was also attended by Jhalakathi Sadar Upazila Primary Education Officer Rafiqul Islam Talukder, Rajapur Upazila Primary Education Officer Md. Akhter Hossain, Nalchiti Upazila Primary Education Officer Mosa. Shirin Akhter and Kantalia Upazila Primary Education Officer K. M. Zaman, along with teachers, students and guardians of various schools.
It is learnt that boys and girls teams from different schools in four upazilas of the district participated in the upazila level competition and won, and then got the opportunity to play at the district level. 4 boys and 4 girls teams participated at the district level. In the final match, the boys team of Rajapur Model School defeated Kathalia Model School by 1-0 goals and emerged as the champions. On the other hand, in the girls' category, Sangar Government Primary School No. 22 of Rajapur defeated Paschim Shaujalia Government Primary School of Kathalia Upazila by 2-0 goals and emerged as the champions. With this victory, both the boys and girls teams of Rajapur Upazila will participate in the Barisal divisional level game from Jhalokati district.
Chief guest Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin said, "Sports are of immense importance in the physical and mental development of students. Sports develop a sense of discipline, leadership and team spirit in children. There is no alternative to sports to keep the current generation away from drugs and crime."
