Quotas Protest: RU students block tracks halting rail communication

Students from Rajshahi University blocked the railway line on Monday protesting the reinstatement of the quota system in government jobs.
This blockade led to the suspension of train movement between Rajshahi and the rest of the country.
Around 11am, demonstrators started to gather on the Paris Road from different halls of residence. Later, they brought out a procession and paraded on the campus before taking position on the railway line.
The ongoing movement demanding reform of the quota system in government jobs has spread to universities across the country and intensified with the enforcement of the “Bangla Blockade” programme.
