Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has called upon his party men to remain vigilant so that BNP cannot resort to the act of sabotage in the name of celebrating Human Rights Day on December 10.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the call while addressing a press conference at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s political office in Dhanmondi area of Dhaka on Saturday.
“BNP is engaged in hatching a plan for sabotage in the name of celebrating Human Rights Day. Our party men will have to be on alert to prevent their acts of sabotage, secret killing and arson terrorism on that day,” he said.
Quader confessed to external pressure regarding the conduct of a free and fair election in the country and said, “Conspiracy is being hatched both home and abroad but we are not distressed at all.”
In response to the recurrent threats of sanctions from Western countries, including the USA, he said, "Our foreign minister has already written to the United Nations, clarifying our stance that we are committed to conducting a free and fair election."
