Qatar Charity (QC), an international humanitarian and development NGO, implemented the 'Qurbani Programme' in Bangladesh by distributing meat from sacrificial animals to 20,000 underprivileged people, including orphans and widows, on Monday.
The humanitarian NGO distributed the meat at 18 locations across the country to promote the values of solidarity and compassion for the poor, according to a press release from its Dhaka office on Wednesday.
Dr. Mohammad Amin Hafiz Omar, country director, monitored the meat distribution activities from the Bhairab orphan care center in Kishoreganj.
Representatives of the NGO were present at each site to ensure the efficient delivery of the meat to those in need.
The Qurbani programme received substantial support from government officials, who participated in several locations to inaugurate the programme and expressed their appreciation for the initiative undertaken by the QC to assist impoverished communities.
Expressing their joy and gratitude, the beneficiaries conveyed heartfelt thanks to the QC and its donors for providing them with the meat of sacrificial animals.
“We are delighted to have received the meat on Eid day because we are unable to afford to purchase meat or sacrifice cattle,” said Salma Akhter.
"It would have been distressing if we hadn't received sacrificial meat on Eid Al-Adha. Thanks to Qatar Charity, it has brought joy for us," said Sultan Ahmed.
