
Punak stands by poor with month-long iftar meal

Bangladesh Police Nari Kollyan (PUNAK), a platform for wives of police officers, has stood by the under-privileged people with month-long iftar meal distribution marking the holy month of Ramadan.
Punak President Dr Tayyaba Musarrat Chowdhury along with other leaders of the organisation distributed an iftar meal among the helpless and distressed people in front of the central Punak office in Ramna of the capital on Saturday.
Regarding the initiative, Dr Tayyaba Musarrat Chowdhury said that Punak distributes iftar meals among the poor and needy during Ramadan every year.
“We continue the iftar meal distribution programme throughout this Ramadan. Punak members contribute to the funding for iftar distribution,” she said.
Punak's chief reiterated her stance on empowering people through different social campaigns under the platform.
“We are taking steps to make a person self-reliant. In addition, the initiative of the trust is being taken to provide services in the health care sector in old age homes. We are also contacting various schools of street children in Dhaka to help street children,” she said.
Punak distributed to the helpless and distressed people as well as in different madrasas of the capital which will continue till the Iftar distribution program will continue till the last day of Ramadan.
