Deprived leaders and activists have held protest marches, rallies and blocked roads, calling the newly announced convening committee of the Ashwadia Union Chhatra Dal in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali a 'pocket committee'.

At that time, they demanded the cancellation of the announced committee and the formation of a new committee comprising Trinamool leaders and activists who had lost their lives in the difficult times. The blockade caused a long traffic jam on the Sonapur-Kabirhat road.

On Wednesday (August 26) afternoon, the deprived leaders and activists took out a protest procession from the Ashwadia Union Parishad premises. The procession circled Dinmoni Bazar on the Sonapur-Kabirhat road and met again in front of the Union Parishad for a rally.

Later, protesters blocked the Sonapur-Kabirhat road by burning tires and throwing bricks and tree trunks on the road. The blockade, which lasted for about an hour, caused long traffic jams as vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road.

The protest rally was addressed by former general secretary of Ashwadia Union Chhatra Dal and new committee president candidate Mosharraf Hossain Sagar, former member of Sadar Upazila Chhatra Dal and president candidate Mahbubul Alam Robin, president candidate Akbar Hossain Robin, Mosharraf Hossain Mithu, general secretary candidate Md. Jihad Hossain, Md. Rifat, organizing secretary candidate Md. Siam, Md. Shakil and Arian Hossain Afsar, and many others.

The speakers said that the new committee of the Ashwadia Union Chhatra Dal, which has been announced with Yasin Alam Hasan as the convener and Abdullah Bin Mahid as the member secretary, did not evaluate the leaders and activists who sacrificed their lives and suffered during the difficult times.
