
Protest rally in Narsingdi demanding justice for attack on Desh TV journalist

A human chain and protest rally were held in Narsingdi demanding justice for the attack on Desh Television journalist Akram Hossain and his family on Saturday morning.
The human chain was organized in front of Narsingdi Press Club under the banner of the journalists of the district from all levels.
Speakers at the event stated that journalists are the mirror of society. Through their writing, they expose corruption and irregularities in society, which often makes them targets of powerful individuals. Akram Hossain is a courageous journalist. Through Desh TV, he highlighted the misdeeds and corruption of powerful figures in Narsingdi, which angered many. As a result, an attempt was made on his life through an attack on him and his family. He narrowly escaped the assault.
Although two individuals were arrested through CCTV footage, they have since been released on bail. Police are yet to identify the mastermind behind the incident, leaving Akram under constant threat. The journalists demanded immediate arrest of the main culprit and ensured safety for all journalists.
Speakers at the human chain included journalists Md. Khairul Islam, Shahadat Hossain Raju, Toukir Ahmed, Fahima Khanam, Ashiqur Rahman, Mostak Ahmed, Sharif Iqbal Russel, Shamim Mia, Touhidur Rahman Mithu, Hridoy Khan, Enamul Haque Rana, Sujon Barman, Aminur Rahman Sadi, among others.
It is to be noted that on Friday night (9 May.) at around 9:45 PM, miscreants attacked Desh Television journalist Akram Hossain and his family at the Hasan CNG Filling Station beside the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway in the Basail area of the city. The family narrowly escaped the attack. During the incident, the attackers also issued death threats.
