Protest meeting in Sylhet against restaurant attack

Sylhet District Restaurant Owners Association and the Sylhet District Caterers Group held a protest meeting in Sylhet last May 1 against the attack, vandalism and killing and wounding of the owners and demanding exemplary punishment by arresting all identified attackers.

At the protest meeting held at an elite hotel in Sylhet city on Sunday (May 5) night, the speakers said - Restaurant is a service industry, if this industry is closed for a day, the customers have to suffer a lot. Keeping those things in mind, the owners expressed their concern that they were attacked and vandalized because they kept a few restaurants open on May Day. The speakers demanded exemplary punishment of the attackers by bringing them under the law.

Under the chairmanship of Sylhet District Restaurant Owners Association President Khaled Ahmed Presided over and Sylhet District Caterers Group General Secretary Salauddin Chowdhury conducted the meeting.

Sylhet District Restaurant Owners Association Advisor Afzar Aziz, Legal Advisor Arup Shyam Bappi, South Surma Restaurant Owners Association President Haji Abdus Sattar, Sylhet spoke at the protest meeting. District Caterers Group President Shanto Deb, Vice President Mahmud Laskar, Sylhet District Restaurant Owners Association Treasurer Aminul Islam, South Surma Restaurant Owners Association Vice President Tofail Ahmed Chowdhury, Abdul Bari, General Secretary Abdul Samad Azad, Organizing Secretary Ali Ashraf, Associate Organizer Abdul Momed , Publicity Secretary Abdul Qadir, Members Tarek Ahmed, Zaheer Ahmed, Salauddin Ahmed and Farooq Ahmed also attended.
