A protest and human chain were held in Pirojpur against corruption of former LGED Executive Sngineer Abdus Sattar on Monday.

The general contractors and conscious citizens of Pirojpur held this human chain and protest rally in front of Pirojpur Sonali Bank.

They alleged that the Pirojpur LGED building was known as an arena of unbridled corruption during the 17 years of the Awami League government.

During that time, a group of unscrupulous contractors, with the help of former Pirojpur LGED executive engineer Abdus Sattar, were looting thousands of crores of taka in the name of development. They have left 80% of the road, bridge and culvert works unfinished and have withdrawn the bills. And the main protagonist of this contractor gang's loot was Pirojpur 02 Constituency MP and Awami League leader Mohiuddin Maharaj and his brother Bhandaria Upazila Awami League General Secretary and former Upazila Parishad Chairman Mirajul Islam.

They further alleged that many works are behind schedule for years and due to this, public suffering has been created in those areas.

At this time, Pirojpur District BNP's former Organizing Secretary and current Convener Committee member Saidul Islam Kismat, District Krishak Dal President Nasir Ahmed Bachchu, Municipal BNP Joint Convener Akhtaruzzaman Masum, District Swechchhasebak Dal President Asaduzzaman Mithu, District Chhatra Dal Acting General Secretary Tanjid Rashid Bappi, District Krishak Dal General Secretary Md. Habib Khan, District Krishak Dal Organizing Secretary Md. Mizan Sheikh, Sadar Upazila Chhatra Dal Senior Joint Convener S. M. Ferdous, etc. delivered speeches.

The speakers released a white paper on corruption in Pirojpur LGED and demanded justice for the looters.

They also gave an ultimatum to the LGED authorities to hold a public hearing within the next 10 days, otherwise they announced a sit-in, hunger strike and human chain at the LGD building along with the people of Pirojpur.
