
Professor Dr. Barisal University was appointed as the first female vice-chancellor. Shuchita Sharmin

Shuchita Sharmin, a professor of Development Studies Department of Dhaka University has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Barisal University. This is the first time the university has got a woman vice-chancellor.
On Monday (September 23), Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Education's Secondary and Higher Education Department, General University Branch section informed this in a notification signed by Shaheenur Islam.
According to the notification, with the approval of the President and Chancellor, according to Article 10(1) of the Barishal University Act 2006, Professor Dr. Suchita Sharmin was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the University on five conditions.
According to the terms of appointment, his tenure as Vice-Chancellor will be four years from the date of joining. She will get pay and allowances equivalent to his present post in the appropriate post. She will enjoy other benefits pertaining to the post as per rules. He will stay with the University full-time as the Chief Executive Officer of the University.
Suchita Sharmin completed her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Psychology from Dhaka University and started her career as a lecturer in 2003. She is doing his PhD in Development Studies. She has published more than 45 articles in international journals and written three books.
Shuchita Sharmin was a research scholar at Kyushu University in Japan where she completed an intensive Japanese language course.She conducted research in the Department of Behavioral and Health Sciences at that university. She has been invited to lecture and research on various topics at his undergraduate and postgraduate universities in Bangladesh, Japan, Switzerland, UK, Nepal, Malaysia and India.
