A sister living in America has held a press conference in Srimangal alleging that she was deprived of her ancestral property worth 150 crore taka against about 7 brothers.

Bilkis Hasan, daughter of the late Hafez Musle Uddin of Notun Bazar area of Srimangal city, made this allegation at a press conference at Srimangal Press Club on Monday evening.

Bilkis Hasan said, "My father died 23 years ago. At the time of his death, my father left behind the current Pansi Restaurant in the city, the petrol pump on Station Road, the Shahjibazar petrol pump and its back part, 22 care crop land in Ashidron village, 114 acres of land in Purbasha residential area, 150 acres of land behind Markus Mosque, 2 buildings in the post office area of the city municipality, and property worth about 150 crore taka." We are 4 sisters and 7 brothers. 2 deceased. After the death of our father, there has been a dispute with my brother and the children of the 2 deceased brothers over our family property for a long time. The brothers have been depriving our 4 sisters of their father's legal property and illegally occupying it for themselves.'

He said, 'Prominent figures of Srimangal, former mayor of Srimangal Municipality Mohsin Mia Madhu and president of Srimangal Businessmen's Association Haji Kamal Hossain have also tried many times to resolve this but failed. We have also approached the police station and the court. But our brothers are not listening to anything. Instead, they are threatening us in various ways.'

Bilkis Hasan said, 'The place in Pansi Restaurant on Bhanugach Road is rented for 2 lakh taka per month and leased for about 30 lakh taka and the shop rent and security deposit in the vicinity are being received for lakhs of taka, but we have not been given any money.

After knowing the matter, we applied to the UNO and the municipality administrator to take necessary measures to stop the construction work of Pansi Hotel at that time. In view of this, after the construction work of Pansi establishment was closed for 6 months, Pansi Restaurant reopened with the approval of the municipality. How did the municipality give approval without informing us about this.

At one point, on March 4, I filed a petition case in the Honorable Court of Moulvibazar. The next day, on March 5, the court issued a 'Notice to Maintain Peace and Order'. The notice ordered both parties to stop encroachment and construction of establishments in the disputed area and ordered them to appear in court with documents.

He also said, on August 3, I went to the land with my son and decided to set up a market behind Pansi Restaurant on Jalalia Road. At around 4 pm, BNP leader Nur Alam Siddiqui, a police SI (Nahid Sahib) and my elder brothers Mofiz Uddin and Alauddin came to the spot and forbade us from working.

It is mentioned that before my elder brother Shamsuddin died, since the land share was not divided, he verbally gave 2 buildings of the post office and Purbasha area to our 4 sisters.

One of these buildings was rented out as a market. Another building was given to my 2 sisters. Another sister was allotted a place in Purbasha area. But my brothers forced several shops in a part of the building given to me to rent out to other businessmen.

Bilkis Hasan said, ‘My brothers have told us that they are happy with the land they have verbally given to our sisters. They will not give any land outside of this. My question is whether the brothers have any right to give away the land of their father’s inheritance as they wish?

Bilkis Hasan's brother Mofiz Uddin denied all these allegations and said, 'We have divided the sisters' land verbally without registering it. They are also living there.'
