Population in Bangladesh rises to 17.15 crore: BBS

The total population in Bangladesh reached 17,15,90,000 till 1 January this year based on the Population and Housing Census 2022.
Out of the population, 8,73,90,000 are women and 8,42,00,000 are men.
The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) disclosed the data while officially releasing the “Bangladesh Sample Vital Statistics 2023: Key Findings” at the BBS headquarters in Dhaka’s Agargaon on Sunday.
The country’s population rose by 17,61,089, while as per the last national report based on the 2022 census, the population was 16,98,28,911.
According to the latest report, the growth rate of the population decreased to 1.33% in 2023 from 1.40% in 2022.
The population density is 1,179 per square kilometre.
