Entertainment Desk

Raffan Imam, popularly known by his stage name Popeye, will be performing at a solo concert for the first time in Dhaka. The concert titled “Popeye—A Night to Remember” will be held at the Liberation War Museum in the capital’s Agargaon on Friday.

Organised by Eventholic, two guest bands, “Lisan and the Blindmen” and “Frequency 2.0” will also perform at the event.

“This is probably the last show of the year. I’m not sure if I will be able to come to Bangladesh again this year. This solo show is special to us. I receive many song requests at concerts, but it is not possible to perform all the songs due to time limits. We will have time to perform all the songs in this solo concert”, Raffan Imam told the media about the concert.

The current lineup of “Popeye Bangladesh” includes Raffan Imam (vocals), Robi (drums), Shafat Ahmed Chowdhury (guitar), Talat Minhaz (guitar), Tansif (bass guitar), Promit (keyboard), and Rafi (manager).

Popeye’s first solo album, “Amar Swarga” was released in 2010, followed by his second album, “Ja Ichche Ta,” in 2013. Raffan moved to the US soon after the release of his second album. After a decade, he returned to perform live for the first time in Bangladesh at the “Rock N Rhythm 2” concert on 9 March 2023.
