Pollution-free model campus construction programme begins with DU students

Under the ‘Green Campus Clean Campus’ programme , 64 students from different departments of the university were appointed as ‘paid volunteers’ for various welfare-oriented works at Dhaka University. They were appointed in collaboration with the non-profit organization Green Future Foundation Bangladesh.
The program to build a pollution-free model campus has started with the appointed students. The orientation program for these students was held on Monday at the auditorium of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at the program.
The program was presided over by the President of Green Future Foundation Bangladesh, Colonel (Retd) Md. Zakaria Hossain, and the Dean of the Faculty of Biology of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, and Director of the Arbori Culture Center, Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin was present as a special guest. Among others, the program was addressed by Mohammad Rafid Hossain, Vice President of Green Future Foundation Bangladesh, Major Md. Golam Maula and Senior ASP of DMP Ramna Traffic Zone Shakil.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said that everyone needs to work together on a larger platform for the protection and development of the university's environment. For this purpose, the 'Green Campus Clean Campus' program is being conducted in collaboration with various organizations including university students, proctorial team, Green Future Foundation Bangladesh. The Vice-Chancellor said that people from all walks of life have compassion for Dhaka University.
It is mentionable that a Memorandum of Understanding was recently signed between Dhaka University and Green Future Foundation Bangladesh with the aim of developing Dhaka University as a green, clean and pollution-free model campus. Under this Memorandum of Understanding, 64 students from different departments of Dhaka University will work part-time in four shifts from 8 am to 9 pm in collaboration with Green Future Foundation Bangladesh.
