A colourful procession and cultural programme  were  held in Goalanda Upazila of Rajbari to celebrate the Bengali New Year-1432.On this occasion, a colorful procession was taken out from the Upazila Parishad premises at 9 am on Monday organized by the Upazila administration. The procession ended at Goalanda Shaheed Smriti Government Girls' High School via Dhaka-Khulna Highway. Later, at 9:30 am, another joyous procession was organized by the Goalanda Pahela Baishakh Celebration Board from Goalanda Shaheed Smriti Government Girls' High School, in which men, women and children of different ages took out a rally carrying various types of placards, banners, festoons and masks that preserve the traditions of Bengalis. The rally circled the main roads of Goalanda Bazar and ended at the same place. Later, cultural programs were held throughout the day.Goalanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Nahidur Rahman presided over the program and declared the grand opening of the procession."Touch the fire with your heart, make this life holy," - after the procession, local artists performed songs in a pleasant cultural program with the theme "Touch the fire with your heart, make this life holy." In the joyous procession, artists from various educational institutions of the upazila and Ujanchar Union carried traditional palanquins and performed beautiful palanquin songs. In addition, brides, administrative forces, Nawabs, pawn armies, and portraits of demons participated in the joyous rally from the Pear Ali More area of the upazila.Among others present at the event were Goalanda Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Asaduzzaman, Goalanda Ghat Police Station OC Mohammad Rakibul Islam, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Jayanta Kumar Das, Goalanda Ghat Police Station OC Investigation Uttam Kumar Ghosh, Goalanda Pahela Boishakh Celebration Board President and former principal of Government Goalanda Kamrul Islam College Khandaker Abdul Mohit, Upazila BNP President Md. Nizam Uddin Sheikh, General Secretary Mosharraf Ahmed, Former President Sultan Nur Islam Munnu Molla, Former General Secretary Shahidul Islam Bablu, Goalanda Pahela Boishakh Celebration Committee Member Secretary Shahidul Islam, etc., along with officials from various departments, teachers and students of various schools and colleges.
