Poet and thinker Farhad Mazhar hospitalised

Poet and thinker Farhad Mazhar has been admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka due to health issues.
He was admitted to the hospital around 11am on Friday, Mohammad Romel, the coordinator of 'Vaab boithoki' and editor of the magazine 'Banan', told bdnews24.com.
"Farhad Mazhar has been suffering from health problems for some time. His breathing difficulties worsened [Thursday] night. He was admitted to the hospital [Friday] morning. Tests and examinations are currently being done."
Mazhar is under the care of Dr Shafiqul Rahman in the hospital's Department of Medicine.
Mazhar was born in 1947 in Noakhali. After studying Pharmacy at Dhaka University, he went to the United States to earn a degree in Economics.
Upon returning to the country, he founded an NGO called UBINIG and initiated the Nayakrishi Andolon (New Agriculture Movement).
A cousin of JaSaD's founding theoretician Sirajul Alam Khan Dadabhai, Mazhar is also edits a magazine called 'Chinta'.
