Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sadeka Halim said that there should be no discrimination between men and women in sports.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is always vigilant about eliminating gender disparities in sports. Under her leadership, the current government is constantly striving to improve the living standards of athletes.

The vice chancellor stated this as the chief guest of the sixth indoor games competition on Monday.

She also stated, “To build a social, cultural, and humane university, we need to organise various competitions. The university is not just for teaching and research. Everyone must be involved in sports and cultural activities. Participation in sports increases discipline and helps avoid conflicts and violence. Those who are skilled in sports and culture are especially talented.”

As a special guest, the university's treasurer, Professor Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, said, “We have several challenges. There is a severe shortage of space for indoor and outdoor games. It is necessary for us to become good citizens. Good health and sports are crucial to becoming good citizens.”

However, the event was organised by the university's sports sub-committee (chess, carrom, table tennis, badminton, tennis, and squash) and managed by the Physical Education Centre, with Professor Dr. Mohammad Ariful Islam presiding over the ceremony.

The Deputy Director of the Physical Education Centre, Goutam Kumar Das, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum, the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Professor Mlptogin, and various teachers and students of various departments of the university were present at the event.
