PIO Al-Amin sets an example of integrity in rural infrastructure development

Md. Lavlu Sheikh , Lalmonirhat

The work of Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Al-Amin Sarkar in rural infrastructure development and renovation in Lalmonirhat stands as a symbol of success and integrity. He has set an exemplary standard.

It has been learned that in the current fiscal year, Al-Amin, the project implementation officer of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila, has earned a reputation as a role model in rural infrastructure development. Due to his efficiency, he is widely praised on the internet. As an honest, responsible, and dedicated government officer, he has shown how professional competence can bring about visible development in Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila.

Under the guidance of Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner H.M. Rokib Hayder and the overall supervision of Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Manonita Das, Al-Amin Sarkar has successfully advanced all development projects through proper monitoring.

On Monday (28 July), during field visits to projects under TR, Kabita, and Kabikha funds, as well as housing projects and distribution of corrugated iron sheets and baby food, the reporter observed visible progress in development activities across Sadar Upazila.

In the current fiscal year, TR, Kabikha, and Kabita projects in Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila received a total allocation of around Tk 4.64 crore, including 139,2218 metric tons of rice and the same quantity of wheat. So far, 220 projects have been implemented under these schemes.

Al-Amin’s dedication is not limited to his duties alone. His constant field visits, supervision, punctuality, and transparency have brought significant progress in all projects—whether TR, Kabikha, Kabita, Ashrayan, food assistance, road construction, or bridge and culvert building.

Field visits to various unions in Sadar Upazila revealed that in all 9 unions, the public expressed appreciation for the development work. Project chairpersons, contractors, beneficiaries, and ordinary people expressed satisfaction at the grassroots level.

Currently, projects are being completed quickly and on time. The quality of work, transparency, and accountability have built public trust and interest in development.

Md. Samiul Islam, a resident of Gokunda Union, said, “Previously, allocations were made in the name of TR and Kabita projects, but no visible work was done. Now everything is transparent. Roads are being repaired, bridges and culverts built, corrugated sheets and baby food are being distributed—everything is being done with clarity. The PIO is always present in the field, and there are no complaints from the public. This is a big change in development work.”

There is also no irregularity in the distribution of rice, wheat, baby food, TCB items, or corrugated sheets. Relief programs are now organized and disciplined. Only verified beneficiaries are receiving rice, wheat, cash, and tin sheets. Local representatives confirmed that all operations are conducted with transparency and accountability.

Chairman Md. Khairuzzaman Badol of Khuniagachh Union said, “The transparency in the PIO office now is exceptional. No political pressure can alter the beneficiary lists. This is unprecedented—something no previous PIO achieved. Al-Amin Sarkar has done it.”

Due to the skilled planning and monitoring of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Manonita Das and PIO Al-Amin, the Ashrayan project in Sadar Upazila has been fully successful. PIC, RFQ, and other processes have also seen 100% transparency, according to civil society and locals. Houses under the Ashrayan project are now livable and visible.

A local businessman from the Ashrayan project area, requesting anonymity, said, “Because of PIO Al-Amin Sir’s regular visits, honesty, dedication, and hard work, poor residents now see hope in government aid.”

Rokeya Begum, a widowed recipient of an Ashrayan home, tearfully said, “Had I not received the house, I’d be on the street. PIO Sir’s team came to my home, checked on me, and I got the house quickly. May Allah bless him.”

Implemented projects include both temporary and permanent rural roads, road repairs, construction of bridges and culverts, school renovations, boundary walls and gates, drains, houses under Ashrayan, and the distribution of rice, wheat, cash, corrugated sheets, and baby food. Al-Amin Sarkar is a living example of how a dedicated and efficient officer can enhance the reputation of government offices.

He has earned the trust and respect of both the district administration and the public. Locals want such officers in every upazila across the country to ensure real change through rural infrastructure development.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Shahriar Tanvir Ahmed said, “Among all PIO offices, Lalmonirhat Sadar’s office is currently the most effective. The transparency in rice-wheat, corrugated sheet, TR-Kabita-Kabikha projects, and baby food distribution has had a positive impact on district-level reports.”

Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner H.M. Rokib Hayder stated, “Al-Amin Sarkar, the PIO of Sadar Upazila, is a highly responsible and hardworking officer. He monitors every task in the field, making him a role model. His dedication is commendable on behalf of the district administration.”
