Pess conference in protest against spreading false information on Facebook

Rangpur Sadar Correspondent

Journalist Mohiuddin Makhdumi, President Rangpur Sadar Upazila Press Club  held a press conference on Thursday  at the Rangpur court premises for spreading rumors and false information through the Paglapir Barta Facebook page.

He said,  false information has been spread in my name with some super-edited pictures from the Paglapir Barta Facebook page. In that false information, I have been called the leader of the Swechchhasebak League, an affiliate of the fascist Awami League, which is completely false, fabricated, and baseless. I had no connection with the fascist Awami League except for the work of collecting information. He said that I have already prepared to file a case against them in the Rangpur Cyber Tribunal.

Besides, my friends have prepared to file cases in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna and Barisal Cyber Tribunals. He said that my only target is to prove them.  I do independent journalism, to find out information, I have to maintain good relations with different parties and opinions. This is a journalistic strategy. BNP and Jamaat know how difficult it was to speak out against this fascist Awami League for the past 17 years. I was threatened with a case, I was made an accused in a case of burning a polling station next to my house. I was made the 17th accused in the case in Thakurpara.

He said, "I strongly demand the administration to bring those who spread false and baseless information in my name on Facebook under the law." A protest human chain will be held at Gol Chattar in Paglapir, Sadar Upazila, Rangpur on Saturday.
