Parents, students, and local residents submitted a written memorandum to the Pabna Deputy Commissioner (DC) on Sunday demanding the immediate dismissal of an assistant teacher from Atgharia Upazila over allegations of professional negligence, classroom absenteeism, and immoral conduct.

The formal complaint submitted to the district administration targets Md. Monjurul Alam (known locally as Monju Master), an assistant teacher at Shibpur Twaha Islamia Fazil Madrasa under Ekdanta Union.

According to the memorandum, Monjurul Alam has consistently neglected his classroom duties, causing severe disruption to academic activities and student performance. The complaint also detailed allegations of unethical personal conduct, including an improper relationship with a female lecturer, Afroza Khatun, from the same institution. Following demonstrations and a rally at the madrasa main gate by aggrieved residents, the matter was escalated to the district level after local upazila administration and the madrasa governing body failed to take remedial action.

The memorandum further noted that Monjurul Alam, formerly an influential local leader of the banned Awami League in Ataikula Union, leveraged political influence under the previous regime to secure state benefits without fulfilling his teaching obligations. Public indignation escalated after communications between the teacher and Lecturer Afroza Khatun circulated on social media. Following the leak, the accused teacher's wife, Sharmin Alam, departed the family home and publicly demanded exemplary action against both individuals.

When approached by journalists, Lecturer Afroza Khatun declined to comment and left the venue. Assistant Teacher Monjurul Alam rejected the allegations, maintaining that the claims were fabricated to ruin his reputation. Shibpur Twaha Islamia Fazil Madrasa Vice-Principal Abdul Alim stated that the institution has no official comment as the matter pertains to personal conduct.

Pabna Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam confirmed receipt of the memorandum, stating that the claims are under verification and that departmental action will be initiated pending an official investigation.
