A resident from Tentulia Upazila in Panchagarh district, Md. Rafiqul Islam, held a press conference claiming that a complete map of Earth is rendered upon the surface of the moon, calling upon national and international authorities to verify his assertion.
Addressing the press conference at the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) auditorium in Segunbagicha on Sunday afternoon, Rafiqul Islam submitted a written statement describing his observations.
He stated that through long-standing habitual observations of the night sky, he identified what he describes as exact spatial reflections of Earth's continents, oceans, and sovereign boundaries on the lunar surface. He attributed the realization to spiritual perception and divine grace rather than mechanical or scientific apparatus.
Rafiqul Islam noted that he had previously hosted a local media briefing on the same subject in Tentulia in October 2025. However, citing a lack of widespread national coverage, he opted to hold a subsequent briefing in the capital to disseminate the claim globally.
He invited national and international astronomers, geographers, and researchers for direct interaction, offering to point out specific geographic contours on the moon. He expressed optimism that government support for verifying and publicizing the claim could advance geographical research and bring international attention to Bangladesh.
