Pakistan HC meets RBRU VC

Courtesy call on Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maruf held a courtesy call on Vice Chancellor of Rangpur Begum Rokeya University Professor Dr. Mohammad Shawkat Ali on mutual cooperation in the fields of higher education and research between the two countries.

The courtesy call, organized in the Syndicate Room of the Administrative Building on Thursday morning , discussed mutual cooperation in the fields of higher education and research between the two countries. Political Counselor of the Pakistan High Commission Kamran Dangal and Attaché for Trade and Investment Zain Aziz, among others, were present at the exchange of views.

The delegation led by the Pakistan High Commissioner was welcomed by the Vice Chancellor at the campus of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, a university in North Bengal. He informed the guests about the academic and administrative activities of the university.

At that time, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shawkat Ali said that in addition to conducting academic activities of the university in an advanced, fair and beautiful environment, it is also conducting joint activities in education and research exchange with various universities at home and abroad. He expressed interest in increasing cooperation in education and research at the university level of the two countries, undertaking joint research projects and conducting publication activities, organizing academic workshops, seminars and conducting educational exchange activities.

Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maruf said that there are about 300 scholarships for Bangladeshi teachers, researchers and students in higher education and research institutions of Pakistan. There are also opportunities for higher education and research in Pakistan for students of Begum Rokeya University. When the Vice Chancellor Berobi expressed interest in academic linkages with higher education institutions of Pakistan, the High Commissioner emphasized further cooperation in the relevant fields.

The meeting was attended by the university's registrar, Dr. Mohammad Harun-ur-Rashid, deans of various faculties, directors, student counselors, teachers of various departments, students, officials and other concerned persons. At that time, the vice-chancellor of the university presented a souvenir to the Pakistan High Commission delegation. Later, the delegation visited the Begum Rokeya Memorial Center at Payraband in Mithapukur Upazila of Rangpur.
