Over 100 ACC cases stall manpower export to Malaysia

Manpower export to Malaysia, one of Bangladesh’s largest overseas labour markets, remains stalled due to more than a hundred cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) officials said.
The issue came up at a recent bilateral meeting in Putrajaya on reopening the Malaysian labour market, where the ongoing cases were flagged as a key concern.
Sources said the Malaysian side stressed the need to stop any “baseless or malicious” activities that could damage its reputation. The Bangladesh delegation, in turn, reiterated its commitment to ensuring rule of law, due process, accountability, and timely adjudication.
Malaysia has indicated that it will reopen its labour market for Bangladeshi workers on the condition that the ongoing cases and investigations related to recruitment are resolved, the sources added.
Manpower export to Malaysia has been suspended for months amid allegations of irregularities in the recruitment process.
The halt has affected thousands of prospective migrants and recruiting agencies.
