Operation 'Devil Hunt' geared up in Chattogram
Md. Tanzim Hossain, Chattogram City
To maintain law and order, joint forces have intensified their operations across Chattogram. Around 100 patrol teams are deployed in 16 police station areas, with standby teams prepared to respond to emergencies.
Since February 8, a total of 521 individuals have been arrested as part of the ongoing operation. Several weapons and other illegal items have been seized, and the detainees include notorious robbers and muggers.
Patrols have been reinforced not only on major roads but also in alleyways. Officers-in-charge (OCs) have been instructed to remain on duty throughout the night, while senior officials are actively overseeing operations.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mahmuda Begum Sonia, stated that new dimensions have been added to the joint operation to ensure full control over law and order. She emphasized that criminals are being arrested daily, contributing significantly to the city's security.
Over the past week, 119 muggers and robbers have been apprehended, and multiple weapons, including two foreign pistols, have been recovered. The operation remains ongoing.
