Nurul Amin becomes MP from UP member in Chittagong-1

Nurul Amin, BNP candidate for Mirsarai constituency No. 278, Chittagong-1, was initially a member of the Union Parishad (UP). Later, he was elected as the UP Chairman. Later, he was also elected as the Chairman of the Upazila Parishad. This time, he contested in the 13th National Parliament election and was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP).
Assistant Returning Officer Somaiya Akhter privately declared him elected at midnight on Thursday.
The results showed that BNP candidate Nurul Amin won by securing 128,799 votes. His nearest rival, Saifur Rahman of the 11-party alliance Jamaat-e-Islami, received 84,538 votes.
He was born on January 1, 1968, in Patakot village, Ochmanpur Union No. 5 of the upazila. His father's name is Maulana Abul Khair. His wife's name is Nurunnahar. He has four sons and three daughters.
Nurul Amin said that out of a strong desire for social service, he won the election for the first UP membership in 1998 and got the opportunity to serve as a public representative for the first time. Later, in 2003, he won as a chairman candidate in the Union Parishad election. In the Upazila Parishad election held on February 19, 2014, he was elected as the chairman by the BNP party decision. However, he was removed from that post. Although he received the BNP nomination in the 11th National Parliament election in 2018, he was not allowed to enter the field in a one-sided election. This time, he won with the party's nomination.
Nurul Amin also said, "The people of Mirsarai have brought me to this stage from the position of UP member with love. My qualification is to earn the trust and confidence of the common people. I have had to endure many setbacks while working in various positions in the party at various times. Yet I have never lost faith. I have tried my best to protect the dignity that the last party gave me by nominating me." He also said, "The common people still love BNP very much. I want to serve the country and the people with the utmost of my ability.
